The Silk Museum, Park Lane: This building was once The Macclesfield School of Art built in 1877 to train designers for the silk industry. It now houses exhibitions exploring the properties of silk, design education, Macclesfield's diverse textile industries, workers' lives and historic machinery.

At this mill knowledgeable guides demonstrate the intricate processes of weaving. The mill contains 26 restored jacquard handlooms. Exhibitions and room sets illustrate life in Paradise Mill in the 1930s.

Within The Heritage Centre is The Silk Museum. This tells the story of the development of the silk industry in the town through an award winning audio visual programme. Silk Costumes and textiles illustrate the important of silk to fashion and its use for other special occasions.

Collections here comprise of a wide range of fine and decorative art material and objects relating to local history. The paintings date from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Local history displays include Law & Order and the life of Charles Roe, an 18th century Macclesfield entrepreneur. The displays also take you on a journey through life in ancient Egypt. This part of the collection includes a mummy case.
